Cupramontana: The Verdicchio trail
The walk takes you to the area of the Cesola, where the sun shines early in the morning and so ripens the grapes in the area where the best Verdicchio wine comes from.
The entire route also winds through vineyards and olive trees. In the east you have a view on the municipality of Staffolo and in the west on Cupramontana, the guards of the beautiful valley. In the distance you can even see Cingoli.
At the top you come across the 12th century old abbey of "Beate Angelo". The best is just before sunset when the sun disappears behind the high peak of Monte Catria. A medieval atmosphere still hangs around the abbey, San Romualdo, the founder of this abbey in the 11th century, will soon show up, or you may hear the footsteps of "Beate Angelo" who left in the morning of 8 May 1429 only to pray and was tortured to death by the brothers of the Fraticelli order in the underlying scrub.
Feel free to take a look at the cloister, a haven of peace.
